Evidence-Based Counseling and Clinical Supervision Services
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)
I pride myself on using counseling methods that are proven effective and bring healing and symptom reduction as quickly as possible.
Of these, ART is my favorite because I find it to be the most effective in the shortest period of time. It also does not require the client to detail their traumatic experiences out loud, prompting them to share only what they choose.
This therapy is designed to treat PTSD, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related symptoms, but can be used to address any other concern that causes distress in the body. This treatment can provide lasting relief from symptoms, typically within 1–5 sessions. It works by reprogramming how the brain stores distressing memories, replacing negative images and body responses with positive ones.
I describe this therapy as an approach that helps you not just think differently but also feel differently about your experiences. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Similar to ART, EMDR is a therapy that can help people heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. It works similarly as well, by using bilateral stimulation (prompting eye movements similar to those experienced in REM sleep) to bring the brain into a feeling versus thinking place while recalling traumatic memories. This approach reduces the emotional intensity and vividness of those memories while linking them to positive beliefs. EMDR differs from ART in that it is less directive, requires more preparation time, and focuses more on shifting belief systems. Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS)
CAMS is a therapeutic framework where I work collaboratively with clients to identify and treat "drivers", or root causes, of suicidal thoughts or behavior. The aim is to reduce suicidal ideation and behavior by understanding why it is occurring in the first place. Essentially answering the question: what is making suicide feel like a viable option to the individual? Once these drivers are identified they can be addressed using a variety of therapy modalities, with the goal of increasing hope and reducing unnecessary hospitalizations.Clinical Supervision
I provide clinical supervision services for interns pursuing licensure as clinical social workers.
I bring passion for mentoring the next generation of clinicians and 15 years of experience in diverse clinical settings to our supervision sessions. My goal is for interns to grow in both skill and most importantly confidence in who you are as your own unique clinician.
I pride myself on creating an open, safe, and collaborative space where interns are encouraged to offer support and feedback to one another, fostering leadership, camaraderie and critical thinking.
It is always an honor to see my interns obtain those 4 letters at the end of our time together and I especially enjoy cheering on my interns-turned-licensed-clinicians in all their future pursuits.“Angelina has been foundational in becoming licensed. Angelina helped me find my first and current job, supported me through clinical highs and lows. Her experience with suicide research was insightful and critical when working with high risk populations. I could not recommend Angelina more”!
